'A call into SPS Single Sign-on failed' Due to Invalid Credentials in the Database

Symptoms

Cannot access any Confluence content from Sharepoint. The User Interface displays:

_ERROR: Unable to load spaces or pages from Confluence
SSO Message HRESULT:-2146893819 (A call into SPS Single Sign-on failed. The error code returned was '-2146893819'.)_

Cause

The encryption key for storing the SSO logins has changed. SSO was probably reset causing a new key to be generated. The stored credentials can no longer be accessed.

Resolution

The stored credentials must be removed (users will be prompted to reenter them). Delete all rows in the table SSO_Credentials from the database SSO used by the SSO Service (probably the Sharepoint database).
