Switch from SharePoint Server 2016 (or earlier) to SharePoint Server 2019/SE or SharePoint Online

In case you are planning to upgrade/migrate SharePoint Server 2016 or earlier to a later version we recommend to read through the following guidelines.

Important note: We are currently not supporting the migration of existing content in case you switch the SharePoint environment.

Confluence macros and SharePoint webparts that are already configured might not be able to resolve their content anymore and will require manual adjustments.

Switch from SharePoint Server 2016 (or earlier) to SharePoint Server 2019/SE

For the Confluence integration, SharePoint Server 2019/SE is using basicly the same setup as SharePoint Server 2016. Therefore you have to make sure that the configuration is done the same way as on your previous SharePoint Server instance by following this guide:

In order to support the modern experience introduced with SharePoint Server 2019 you should make sure to adjust the app configuration in the Confluence administration to download and install the latest SharePoint solution for embedding Confluence content into SharePoint Server 2019/SE:

Please make sure to remove the SharePoint Add-in that is used in SharePoint Server 2016 before you install the new SharePoint Framework solution used by SharePoint 2019/SE/Online
