Resolving Confluence 9 Plugin Issues: System App: Administration and Third-Party Conflicts

Problem

After upgrading Confluence to version 9, the plugin “System App: Administration UI” cannot be enabled.

Cause

Confluence 9 introduced significant changes, prompting us to create entirely new branches for our applications. Therefore, reinstalling them will guarantee that the correct branch is properly installed.

Solution

Uninstalling all (formerly) Bitvoodoo apps and reinstalling them fresh will be the solution.

It Still Does Not Work

Unfortunately, you have encountered a familiar issue stemming from conflicts with certain third-party applications. In particular, it appears that products from ServiceRocket, now rebranded as Appfire, are responsible for a bug that interferes with the functionality of other applications.

Solution

To resolve this issue, please follow these steps:

  1. Disable or temporarily uninstall the conflicting apps.

  2. Enable the bundled app “System App: Administration UI.” Once this is done, you can activate any previously used Bitvoodoo’s bundled Apps. The “System App: Administration UI” is installed alongside other apps, and the link provided will give you more details. If the issue is resolved, you can proceed to enable the remaining Bitvoodoo apps you have in use. If the problem persists, we recommend uninstalling this bundled app along with any Bitvoodoo apps and then reinstalling them from the Marketplace. Additionally, we strongly suggest uninstalling any Appfire apps and trying again.

If this does not resolve the issue, please reach out to us by raising a support request.
