Add Link Spotter to a Team Channel

The Link Spotter app has to be added as a tab to a channel within a team. Then the app will show all links contained in the channel messages.

Currently private channels are not supported. If you would like to have them supported, please let us know: Raise a support request

There are multiple ways of adding the app to a tab:

  1. If you know the channel, in which the app should be added, navigate directly into it and add a new tab by searching and selecting the app.

  2. Or you can first search the app in the app store and then search and select a channel to which the app should be added.

The following sections provide detailed guidance for both options.

If you want to get more information about apps in Microsoft (MS) Teams you can also have a look at the official Microsoft documentation: Apps and services

Mobile App: adding an app or a tab is not supported in MS Teams mobile app, therefore Link Spotter cannot be added on mobile devices

Option 1: Go to the channel directly and add the app

To add the app as a tab, go to “Teams“ in the left menu of MS Teams and select a channel in the team you want. There is a “+” button on the top of the channel besides the already existing tab(s):

Clicking on the “+” will open a window that shows all available apps that can be added. If “Link Spotter” is not directly visible you can search for it with the help of the search box in the top right corner of the window. Then select “Link Spotter”:

For the very first addition to a channel, the setup process can take a while until all links have been found in the channel. You can wait or return later to check the state. When the process has finished the app can be used normally.
