SharePoint Formats the Confluence Search Results Badly

This problem affects SharePoint 2010 only.

Symptoms

Once you have followed the documentation for configuring the federated search  in SharePoint 2010, the Confluence Federated Search Results Web Part displays search results from Confluence as raw XML data without any formatting.

This problem occurs in SharePoint 2010 only.

Resolution

Take the following steps to fix the layout:

  1. Click the small arrow to the right of 'Confluence Federated Search Results WebPart'.
  2. Select 'Edit Web Part'.
  3. Click the plus sign next to 'Display Properties'.
  4. Un-tick the box for 'Use Localization Visualization'.
  5. Click 'Apply'.
  6. Tick the same box ('Localization Visualization').
  7. Click 'OK' to close the 'Edit Web Part' dialogue.
