Problem reusing the same domain name used in a Jira instance where the application is uninstalled

 Problem

As a Jira administrator, you have set up the connection to Microsoft 365 for a Jira instance. (Please refer to the Configure Microsoft connection guide for more details). After configuring this connection, you decide to switch to a new Jira instance and uninstall the application from the previous one. However, when you try to use the same domain name that was previously used, you encounter an error message indicating that the domain name is already being used by another Jira instance. Typically, this error occurs when the same domain name is used for multiple Jira instances. In this case, the error is displayed even though the domain name is no longer in use.

Cause

There is a daily task set up to clear the configuration of all uninstalled applications in your Jira instances. This means that if the application is uninstalled, its configuration including the domain name will be removed by the task during the next scheduled run. In your specific scenario, you uninstalled the application from one Jira instance and installed it on another instance before the daily task ran.

 Solution

Waiting until the next day after the uninstallation gives the task time to run and clear the configuration of the uninstalled application. Installing the application in the other instance after the task has run ensures that the domain name can be reused without conflicts.
