Executing a search query using SharePoint Search Query Tool

Sometimes it could be helpful to send a serach query to SharePoint and analyze the response. This can be achieved by using the free SharePoint Search Query Tool. 

Instruction

  • download: SharePoint Search Query Tool
  • expand the zip file and start the tool
  • fill in the required values as follows:
  • (the query text depends from your current purpose)
  • make sure you use the same SharePoint credentials that are used by your app

Examinate the results

  • often the information from "Status" tab and the "Primary Results" tab is important
