Error opening PDF in a new tab in Chrome or Edge browser
Problem
ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT error occurs when clicking on a PDF document title in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge 86.x.
If you open a PDF document in a new tab of a Chromium-based browser like Chrome or Edge, you receive the following error message:
The behavior occurs on all PDF links in the SharePoint Online List and the SharePoint Document Macro. Your permissions to the document are not the cause of the error.
Solution
To open the PDF in a new tab, you have one of the following options:
Copy the URL of the corrupted tab and paste it into a new tab.
Right-click on the PDF link and click on “Open link in new tab“.
Install a PDF reader extension in the browser and set it as the default PDF reader. If you click the PDF link now, the extension will open the document in a new tab.
